I always feel hugely motivated to implement change on the 1st of January and start by setting all of my goals for the coming year. Which is strange as it’s no different a day to any another date in our calendar, other than it’s day one of the new year.
It also signals big business opportunities for a number of industries, nicotine replacement, gyms,
recruitment and of course estate agency. The new year’s resolutions that are made over the
Christmas break usually follow a period of reflection and a surge in motivation to change. So
quitting smoking, getting healthy, getting a new job, moving house are all top of the list!
In my experience the first 3 weeks in January are always crazy busy, with vendors deciding over the
festive break to bite the bullet and go for it. There’s a surge in applicants looking to move and an
increase in customers wanting financial and mortgage advice and also advice on letting their
properties. What a great time for agents! How prepared are you?
I challenge you to take some time reflecting on 2015, what were your successes, did you do
everything you set out to in 2015. Were all of your goals achieved? December is a great opportunity to reflect, regroup and
refocus. It’s important to tick off the successes and understand why certain things did not get done.
Get some clarity and focus around what good would look like for you and your business in 2016.
I would suggest it is important to get a plan in place to capitalise on the early New Year rush.
Making sure you are not just acting reactively to those clients, getting structure in place to make sure that every business opportunity is extracted from each call, enquiry and lead. Kicking off 2016 with some really positive results will set the tone for the rest of the year.
